What? A group for individuals seeking both support and education around their own substance/alcohol useWho is this for? Any individual who is ready to get support around his or her alcohol and/or drug use. A 30 minute program intake must be completed prior to registration.Where? Pacific Therapy and Consulting (1550 Lake Trail Road)When? Mondays. Group will be two hours in length.Why? If you have tried to quit using and or drinking on your own, you know that it can be very difficult. Attempting to stop using substances and alcohol on your own can be difficult and seemingly impossible. In this group, you will find a safe place to process your own thoughts and feelings as well as learn skills to apply to your life in a realistic way. Cost $50 per session. Registration required. Groups offered on Tuesdays from 6 – 730pm and Saturdays between 10 – 1130amOur support groups are for anyone struggling with negative body image, emotional eating, binge eating, or other eating disorders. Our group will offer social and emotional support along with the education and tools to help move towards body acceptance. Starting on Saturday, September 22 from 10 – 12pm, Pacific Therapy & Consulting will be offering complimentary workshops for the Comox Valley community. Entrance will be by donation to the Comox Valley Transition Society and will take place at the Bayside Café located at #5 – 2760 Cliffe Ave, Courtenay.September 22 – The Art of Eating: This workshop will explore our relationship with food. Topics will include; fat, food restriction, food anxiety, emotional / binge eating, and much more!October 20 – The Art of Exercise: If you dread exercise or find you force yourself to do it, don’t miss this workshop! We will explore the science and psychology around physical activity and debunk all the myths out there that tend to intimidate many of us. You will be surprised by how little you need for physical and mental health.November 17 – Real Life Health: From juicing and fasting to CrossFit and goat yoga, there are so many trends that come and go, but what does it mean to be healthy? We will explore authentic health and take apart all the beliefs about what healthy living is. Get ready to feel good about what you are doing now and drop all the guilt of what you “should” be doing.December 8 – Stress! The Good, The Bad, and the VERY UGLY: Just in time for the holidays, this workshop examines the role of stress in our lives. We will examine the physical, emotional, and behavioural effects of stress and create a stress management tool box. Mindful Fitness for Pain & Stress ManagementThis one hour class offers a combination of deep breathing techniques, mindfulness meditation, and visualization skills that will help to manage chronic pain and decrease stress.
